Retention Manager APPLY NOW
Ohsnap is the innovative startup that's been redefining how people use their phones since 2019. We make phone accessories that don’t suck.
We're looking for a Retention Manager to take full ownership of how we talk to our customers after they buy. Email, SMS, loyalty, reviews, direct mail — all of it. You'll work directly with the Director of Marketing, build the lifecycle program from strategy through execution, and own one of the highest-leverage revenue channels in our business.
This isn't a role where you pass briefs to an agency and review their work. You'll write the strategy, design the emails, build the flows, run the tests, and report the results. We think a single sharp operator with the right tools beats a generalist agency, and we want that operator to be you.
You'll be a great fit if you:
- Have 3+ years running lifecycle marketing at a DTC brand and can point to specific revenue wins
- Know Klaviyo deeply, and have opinions about how it should be set up
- Can design emails yourself in Figma. We have designers to support what's necessary, but most of the design will be up to you.
- Are obsessive about A/B testing and have a real methodology for what to test, in what order, and how to read the results
- Write copy that doesn't sound like marketing. We are honest, authentic, and self-deprecating. People are tired of marketing speak, let’s keep it real.
- Understand the full retention picture beyond email: SMS strategy, review collection, loyalty/referral programs, post-purchase experience.
- Are tech-savvy and know how to use tools like Claude or GPT to move faster. Please don’t use their creative copy though. It's not just bad, it's really bad.
Must-haves:
- Demonstrable track record growing email/SMS revenue as a percentage of total at a DTC brand
- End-to-end Klaviyo proficiency
- Ability to design emails and write copy yourself. This is important and separates you from other applicants. Have examples.
- The ability to be proactive without being told what to do. The less hand-holding you need, the better.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with SMS platforms (Attentive, Postscript, or similar)
- Direct mail experience (PostPilot, Inkit, or similar)
- SEO instincts. If you have content/SEO chops on top of lifecycle, even better
- Reviews and UGC platform experience (Okendo, Junip, Yotpo)
You might not be a great fit if you:
- Need a big team or an agency to execute on your ideas. This is yours to own.
- Prefer a structured environment where someone tells you what to do.
- Want a quiet, fully-defined role with clear boundaries. We move fast, things shift, and you'll occasionally end up doing things that weren't in this job description.
What you'll actually do:
- Audit our current Klaviyo setup and tell us what we’re doing well and what needs improvement
- Create and own the full lifecycle calendar, synced with the general marketing calendar.
- Design and write emails and SMS in-house
- Run a continuous A/B testing program.
- Report monthly on KPIs and what you tested
- Partner with creative and design on bigger campaigns and product launches
- Help us figure out direct mail, loyalty, and referral as we build out retention
What we offer:
- $80k-$115k salary, depending on experience
- Full healthcare coverage, individual or family (company-paid)
- Profit sharing + equity
- Unlimited PTO + very flexible schedule
- A fun, high-energy office environment in a cool space in Apex, NC
- Real ownership. You will be the only retention role at the company
Location:
Strongly prefer Raleigh-Durham-Apex-Cary area, on-site in our Apex, NC office. Open to discussing remote for the right candidate, but you should expect to be in the office regularly for shoots, launches, and team time.
How to apply:
Drop a note below telling us a bit about yourself, the lifecycle program you're most proud of, and why you think you're a fit. Resumes are welcome, but a strong LinkedIn profile + a short personal note goes a long way. If you can share a flow or campaign you built that moved a real number, amazing. Got a portfolio? Even better. No cover letter required, just be real with us.
